"Caffeine" to keep your laptop awake during presentations

Our laptops are set to go to sleep when there is no active input....a great way to keep the battery from draining.   But when you connected to the projector during a lesson or meeting, you don't want this to happen.

"Caffeine" is a tiny program that puts an icon in the right side of your menu bar. Just click it to prevent your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. Click it again to go back to the regular settings.

Get the software:
 - Use any browser to go the product webpage:
                            http://lightheadsw.com/caffeine/
 - Click on the link for "Direct Download"
 - Close the browser, and from a Finder window, open your Downloads folder.
 - Double-click on the file called "Caffeine1.1.1.zip"
(This unzips the file and puts a copy of the application right next to the download.)
 - Drag the "Caffeine" file into your Applications Folder.

Set-up the software:
 - Double-click on Caffeine application to open it.
 - In the preferences window, click the box next to "Automatically start Caffeine at login"
 - We suggest you set the Default Duration to 2 hours.

 - Click "Close"

Use the software:
Anytime you need to keep the computer awake, simply click the coffee-cup icon on the menu bar.  If it's full of coffee, the laptop will not sleep.  Click it again to go back to your normal settings.
